  • Notes:
Found dead with damage to head (cause of death unknown) in bushland adjacent to Black Rocks sports field (Pottsville) which is located 300 metres inside core koala habitat at the junction of three koala linkages in the middle of a regional wildlife corridor. Tweed Councillors Longland, Byrne, Polglase and Youngblutt voted not to close the koala protection vehicle gates at the entrance to the sports field access road during the day and to replace them with a koala grid, which will allow dogs to be transported in both night and day. Several ecologists have called for the Black Rocks Sports field to be revegetated with koala food trees. A National Parks and Wildlife Service response in 2002 prior to the sports field being constructed states that the sports field will introduce disturbance into the area and sever the corridor.
