Getting Started

During November 7th-22nd 2015 we need your help to collect data about koalas in your local area. It’s simple!

Download the NatureMapr iPhone App or the NatureMapr Andriod App and activate the Koala Count 2015 project. Alternatively, you can use a digital camera.

Remember, we need you to upload koala absent points at any time along your walk (we suggest halfway and at the end). Uploading a koala absent point will not impact on your findings if you end up finding a koala at another point on your walk.

Get some ideas for Koala hotspots and information on what gear you need on your bushwalk. On your Koala spotting bushwalk, apply the Leave No Trace principles: Be considerate of wildlife and other walkers; keep to the track, take all rubbish out with you, and leave what you find.

If you find a sick or injured Koala, contact WIRES or Friends of the Koala.

Let us know if you have any problems. Happy Koala counting!
